Over the next three years the New Voices Campaign will allow NEPM to creatively engage more diverse audiences—meeting people “when and how they want and wherever they are” while sustaining the high-quality programming that thousands rely upon each day. NEPM’s commitment to education, fact-based journalism, robust cultural programs including Classical, Jazz, world music, and community-driven civic dialogue remains at the core of who we are and who we will always be.

The primary goal of the New Voices Campaign is to attract a more diverse and a younger audience building upon existing strengths and empowering staff and volunteers to collaborate in innovative ways that weren’t possible before, by developing cross-platform (radio, TV, audio, video, digital & social media) content, producing deeper and more substantive journalism, and utilizing new approaches such as short-form video and podcasts.
The Campaign's Programmatic and Organizational Goals are to:

Strengthening connections with long time loyal supporters.
Develop diverse voices and conversations across all platforms. Transform NEPM into a multi-platform media enterprise able to reach audiences whenever they want content and wherever they want.

Make NEPM as diverse
as our region’s changing
landscape by building:

Deepened reciprocal bonds between NEPM and communities of color, with the LatinX community being the most rapidly expanding demographic in our region.

Broadened ties with rural, suburban and urban communities.

Create innovative
multi-platform
news programming.

Expand our newsroom capacity to ensure we can cover and produce the stories that our critical to our region’s future.

Fill the increasing gap brought about by the transformational decline in local print media and strengthen collaborations with local media partners.

Vastly increase locally produced high-quality content.

As a corollary benefit, share more local content beyond our region via other NPR & PBS affiliates.

Create stronger partnerships with schools, educators, higher education, and other media organizations to collaborate on the development and nurturing of talent.

We will focus especially on underserved communities (communities of color as
well as rural areas). -
Expand programming & resources for children, parents, caregivers and educators by leveraging national content from public television and
radio and creating new local initiatives. -
Broaden engagement around civics and media literacy including, understanding the U.S. Constitution, and the role media and fact-based journalism play in a
democratic society.
Build an inclusive community space in Hampden Street.

Using the collective genius of western New England we will create access to forward-looking
live art and journalism that sparks change to create a stronger, more equitable and just society.
